My tank is almost 2yrs old. Stable parameters. 2part dosing daily. LED lighting. Sump/fuge.
I've NO Coralline on my rock. Back wall yes. Overflow box almost covered. Fuge area loaded.
What's up with this?!

Quick question, are any of your rocks green, it looks to be so to me so this could actually be coralline just a different type, I have rock covered in the green stuff but no purple except on the glass and overflow

But it's growing great on the back wall and the overflow box.
I've no real algae to speak of. Except for this bright green in certain lower light areas.

It has to do with nutrients (Po4 and No3) and of course ALK, CAL.
I believe @Randy Holmes-Farley had a discussion about this not that long ago.
My self don't have much coralline too, but I don't want it as I just have to crank the CaRx up and it competes with my corals.
If it happens great if not, more ALK and CAL for your corals.

I'm not complaining mind you. Just a new experience for me. Curious due to the amount of Coralline growth in my fuge area. This from a 7w LED.
1 RED LED @660 nm
3 ROYAL BLUE LED @ 450 nm
1 VIOLET LED @ 410 nm
2 WHITE LED @ 6500K Kelvin

IME; certain spectrums of light just won't grow coralline. I've had trouble when running only 14k MH lamps, for example. But it grew once I switched to 20k.

I believe that if you scrape it off, the coraline will grow in other areas of the tank.

I have never had any coraline to speak of (on two different tanks).....I always wondered why but never really cared since I don't care for the look of it. Obviously something I am doing does not agree with coraline.

Also,if I remember correctly it does not like bright direct light.

But it's growing great on the back wall and the overflow box.

I hate the stuff. I once had a tank that was solid purple. It had vertical growth! If I could get rid of it, I would.

My tank was like this as in it wouldn't grow any coraline. I have a 4 bulb t5 and 2 100w led's. Every now an then it would grow a spot but it would die off in a week or so and would only grow on the back glass up to about midway up, it was like there was an invisible line it wouldn't cross. Every thing was good params and lighting water changes all of it. I started reading about soft corals needing nutrients to grow well which is mostly what's in my tank so I went from doing w/c's every other week to doing them once a month and left the t5 off for at least a month (right around) and the coraline was every where when I turned the t5 back on. I really couldent tell with just the led's cause they are more blue than whites, red's and green I could tell it was growing but, not how much it really had grown when I was able to see it with the t5 on. The corals took off also.I dident add any additives except what I already used which was seachem reef builder powder and liquid calcium by Kent.

I agree that it doesn't like direct bright light. I only grow it at the very bottom of my tank and around the edges. It grows in shades areas of my rocks.

Its possible your rocks are full of po4 and its getting slowly released, which corraline grows poorly around. Thats why it grows on the glass and not the rock.

@NanaReefer you got me looking at all the coraline in the house! It seems to grow best around dark high flow areas.Like the glass around the return pumps and inside protein skimmer.HTH.

I know this thread is old but I wanted to chime in, in case people google this. Your rocks aren't covered because your LED's are too strong. Your back wall is covered in coralline because it's darker in the back and also inside the overflow. I think people go way too crazy on the lighting. Even SPS tanks don't need 400+ PAR. Spectrum is more important than intensity.
