Hi everyone,

Hope that you are enjoying your Holiday Weekend, and that you've checked out our sale and scored some deals! We've got a lot more to come before this one is over!

This week marked the return of fishes to the UC site, and response has been great so far! We've featured some awesome fishes from Sustainable Aquatics, and ReefGen, many of which are captive bred or tank reared. We also feature limited fishes from other breeders and high-quality sources that employ net capture and other sustainable practices. We always said that when we got back into fishes, we'd be featuring fishes that fall into these categories, as they fit our marketing strategy, quality/price structure, and ethos. We think that we are off to a good start, and we'll continue to refine and make improvements.

You can purchase fishes from just about anywhere. However, it's not every day that you can access a selection of fishes that you can really feel good about, which is one of the motivating factors that drove us to select these sources. The quality and health of these fishes is immediately evident: They have great color, vigor, and general "robust-ness" to them. They are acclimated to dry and frozen foods, and are eating at our facility with gusto before they ever leave here. We kind of figure that if you're going to chance a fish like a Scooter Dragonet or a Fairy Wrasse, it should be eating before we ship it to you. We will continue to put the same level of care, commitment and "love" into the fishes that we do into the corals. We are not out to be the biggest fish seller on the 'net. We are not out to offer only the priciest, most unusual fish around. We ARE out to be go-to source for very high quality, healthy fishes that you can feel good about purchasing!

If you have any suggestions, ideas or questions that can help us evolve our fish department, feel free to PM me. We're here for you, and we want to continue to earn your business- and your trust!

Here are just a few of the cool fishes from Sustainble that we have on line now:

SA Black Clarkii A. clarkii full-2.jpg

Sustainable Aquatics Black Clarkii Clowns - A great new release. They are colorful, hardy, and have really great personalities!

SA Scooter Blenny Synchiropus ocellatus 020312 full.jpg

Sustainable Aquatics Scooter Dragonets - Unlike ones from mass-market, cheap sources, these little guys are already eating prepared foods before they ship! If you're looking for broodstock for a possible breeding project with this fish, look no further!

SA Lubbock's Fairy Cirrhilabrus lubbocki 030912 full.jpg

Sustainable Aquatics Lubbocks Fairy Wrasse - A beautiful fish! These are perfect for a reef tank. Net caught and tank reared, these fishes are fully acclimated to captive life and are in terrific health!

SI Fiji Green Chromis Chromis viridis 072712 full.jpg

Sustainable Aquatics Blue Green Reef Chromis - One of the most popular Chromis around. The difference here is that, unlike Chromis from many unreliable, mass-market sources, these are not sick, half-starved, and poorly handled before they are shipped to us. They won't die off gradually, as so often happens with wild ones. Thse are fully conditioned, super healthy fishes that look and act great from the start. A common fish with uncommon quality!

SI Banggai Cardinal Pterapogon kauderni 120612 full.jpg

Sustainable Aquatics Captive-Bred Banggai Cardinal Fish - Need we say more? Thse are prodiced by Bali Aquarich, one of the most highly-regarded fish-breeding facilities in the world, and the quality and health of these fishes is far superior to virtually any wild ones we've seen or handled previously. Slightly younger and smaller than many that you'll see on the market, yet full of good health and vigor!

In upcoming posts, we'll look at some of the other cool fishes that we have in stock, including the first captive-bred Monos and Oyster Toadfishes, as well as other fishes from ReefGen. And of course, we'll keep growing our section with suggestions from you!

We could go on and on for days touting the virtues of these fishes, but we think you get the idea. When you are looking for high quality fishes for your collection, please do give us a look. We will never have a massive selection of every fish under the sun. We will have an ever-growing selection of some of the very best fishes available anywhere in the world.

Thank you for your continued support and confidence!

Regards,

Scott Fellman and Joseph Caparatta
