Re ULNS, I was wondering if there might be a different effect if N is limited as against P. Like if the zoox had different N and P requirements compared to the 'animal' part of the coral, so reducing P might stimulate the animal vs the algae part of the coral for instance. See what you mean about being hard to test though. But with those super low levels of nutrients in the GBR as against our tanks, where we seem to be able to keep corals happy at higher nute levels, its puzzling why slight increases in nutes seem to harm natural reefs so much. Interesting though that different macros are limited by different nutrients, I guess for those running ATS, a mixed algae bed would be best then.
