For the sake of accuracy, I didn't force you to do anything.![]()
I'm sticking to my story.....at least it's what I've told my wife.
So if you get a crazed woman banging on your door, yelling and screaming, it's just my wife wanting you to tell me to buy diamond earrings.........Because if I listen to you about purchasing socks, maybe she'll finally get those diamond earrings.
I'm making a prediction of the outcome of the new socks.....they will outlast the old ones.
The reason for this prediction is that I pulled out the jeweler's loupe and looked at the two socks. What I found was that the old socks appeared to have smaller holes. Also noted was the threading was thicker with the old socks. What I'm now surmising is that my washing routine caused the fabric to flatten/fray, reducing the size of the holes. Realize....taking a guess.....that these socks are maybe three years old or so. The washing routine is rubbing fabric to fabric, while holding the sock under the faucet.
I thank the OP and AllSigns for causing me to look into this. I think my next sock purchase will be 300 micron socks, that after a number of washings, will filter more like 200 micron socks.
