One of our favorite corals for the home aquarium has to
be Scolymia! This a great coral for the lower parts of your
aquarium, especially the sand. This gives them nice support
for their flesh to fully open. They're one of our favorite
corals to feed too! Very cool to watch them open big, almost
inside out to feed! This coral will do well with meaty foods like
mysis and brine shrimp. They'll be nice and plump after a good
feeding and this really helps keep and improve their coloration
over time! We consider this an easier/moderate to care for coral and is non
aggressive as well, so you can pack them together and make an
awesome scoly garden! Love the color variety of this coral too! Feel

I am really wanting to get a couple scolys, bleeding apple, war paint) but I read that they don’t handle sand well unlike trachys. I have a diamond watchman goby. What is your opinion.

If that's the case, then you can also put them on a shelf like rock or other rockwork above the sand too, outside of reach of your goby. I would also avoid putting them in the sand in your scenario too!

Thanks! It’s got gold streaks in the bleeding apple if you look close, I might look at getting a war paint this weekend if available.

My scolly although only a couple weeks old, has no problem being on the sand at all. I also have a lawnmower blenny and he doesn’t seem to bother it at all.
