Why in the world can I not get a Camelback cleaner shrimp to survive acclimation this is my fourth attempt at $30 a pop I'm about to give up on this shrimp. I drip acclimate until the salinity matches that of my tank about an hour or at least an entire gallon. I never let the shrimp out of the water he never is exposed to the air. I turn off all lights pumps and powerheads. And I put the entire acclimation bucket in the tank and let him come out on his own. A couple hours later I find some snails eating him what in the world am I doing wrong please help if you can thank you

No the only thing that approach to the shrimp was my powder Brown Tang I guess he wanted a cleaning the shrimp was just sitting on the rock and I left the tank for about an hour and when I came back I found some Nassarius snails eating it

Yes but they seem to be fine at the local fish store but when I get them home and acclimate them that's when the problems begin

Any predators in your tank? Triggers, puffers? Also, are you sure it's dead and not shedding its layer? I thought my shrimp died, but it turned out he was just shedding its exoskeleton.

No there are no predatory fish in my tank and the shrimp was only in my tank for 1 hour when I found the snails eating it

All the cleaner shrimp died within 1 hour of acclimation I have other shrimp in my tank I have a coral banded shrimp and some fire shrimp and they're doing fine but I can't seem to acclimate a cleaner shrimp and I really like the Camelbak

I bet it's the coral banded shrimp. Is it larger than the cleaner shrimp? I had one that would attack fish if they got too close to his space.

What are the salt levels of the tank they are coming from and what are the salt parameters of your tank? Most stores keep salt levels very low. The acclimation process can for sure kill something that is delicate to begin with if the salt swing is too great. Instead, set up a quarantine thank with the exact same level as your supplier. Then slowly bring up the levels over a few weeks while the shrimp is in quarantine. I bring my refractometer to the store with me to be certain. NEVER trust what they tell you.

Fire shrimp are cleaners btw. These other shrimp will kill newcomers if the tank is too small

Is there salt water level was very low so I took extra time acclimating maybe about 2 hours my saltwater level is .025 there's was .019

Get yourself some cuprisorb. Sounds like copper to me.
You could do a Triton test, but that's the cost of 2 cuprisorbs.
I always leave a cuprisorb in the tank 24x7.

This is too big a jump in two hours, imo
Agree to setup quarantine bring it up over a couple weeks.
Also how large is your tank?

You have other shrimp in the tank , so my guess the water is fine . So its either the jump up in salinity or the other shrimp are the culprit. Shrimp are very territorial and will kill others when the venture into their space. How big is the tank? Multiple species would require a lot of space and nocks and crannies so each one can claim space.
