Why won’t it stick?

you can put a glob of super glue on the glass, put the gsp on the glue, then put more glue over a part of the gsp, making sure to connect the glue on the gsp with what's on the glass, and immediately hit it with a spray of tank water with a spritzer. the water instantly sets the glue, and the glue 'bridge' across a part of the gsp sort of latches it onto the glass.

I actually glued mine to aquarium magnet and attached magnet on other side in case I want to move it or remove it easily

On gluing anything, only luck I have found is to dry the end where I am putting the glue, put lots on, then hold it in that position for 15-30 seconds without moving it, once you move it, do over. Thats my experience anyways.

I’ve tried an acro that was encrusting a rock and wanted it to run up the glass. Put some epoxy on the rock, scraped the glass, put a glob of superglue on the glass then some on the epoxy and held it there for a few minutes. It stayed for a few weeks until I found it on the sand bed one morning. My opinion/guess is that the glass is too smooth and the bio film makes it almost impossible for the glue to stick permanently. Something glued to a magnet sounds like a good solution. Maybe an old powerhead base would work.
