Howdy reefers! Im 7 years old and new to the hobby and recently aqquired a blue tang in my saltwater 30 gallon saltwater, and recently he wont wake up from hibernation. Sallinity is 1.45, nitrates are 68, i have no clue what happened. Happy Reefing!!

Welcome young one. Can you post pic or video under white lighting?
If its the Hippo tang (Dory) you have, they will lay dead when stressed or scared. In the ocean, imagine a groupk of 200 doing this when a diver is in the area.
Stand back and fish should feel safe to upright itself.

What test kits are you using?
Nitrates would be high (you want 20 or below) and salinity should be 1.024-1.025

A blue tang in a 30 gallon! Please send pictures, the tank overtime wil get to small but for now that’s good, if you want to keep him I would recommend to eventually upgrade your tank to a 180 gallon, I had to do that, here is my tank now, btw just give your blue tang a little tap with your hand and he will wake up
