Wich sump layout is the better one?

I have a question.

Wich of these 2 layouts do think its the best?
Pro's and con's and is there other layouts than these thats better than both?

I have the one on the left, but wish i had the one on the right. It gives you the ability to take the fuge offline for needed maintenance.

I would run the skimmer after your chaeto. You want the chaeto to basically get the dirtiest water possible so it will have the most particles to eat. If it gets the water after it has passed through the skimmer you will be unnecessarily starving it.

I like the second sump best, I have something similar.
Recommend adding a filter floss area between fuge and return pump. Just to keep the stray debris out of your pump.
