wierd stringy white filmy algae taking over
So with this whole corona virus thing I have been spraying a ton of disinfectant on the surfaces none within 6ft of the tank and none in the air. Did a 5g water change and siphoned it all out and within 12 hours its back.My tank runs a carbon reactor and runs phosguard its a 29 biocube. If I run a polishing pad it gets clogged in 10 minutes from it. all corals are happy and open. could this be from the disinfectant getting in the tank and causing this?

here is a short video

here is some better pictures

Can you rule out vermitid snail castings it looks like those

cleaners irritate the snails, they send out snot webs?

I would guess that in a high enough amount sure alcohol could be a source. Anecdotally for me it was my gals various scented shower gels, hair sprays and whatever else she uses. It was in our bedroom tank near the shower I had the issue. Once we began closing the door and she cut back to a select few products, only spraying perfumes after she left the area it cleared up on its own.

My wife definitely would have told me to move the tank before changing her beauty products

That is what I expected but she actually said if it’s polluting water I wonder what‘s in them and began looking closer at what she used. She cut them out per her own research.

Forgot to add..he said if you’ve used hand sanitizer, to wash your hands before sticking them in the tank. It kills the bacteria

Thank you, when I noticed it I found out my mom and step dad where spraying lysol -.- so I told them please not around the tank lol I use disinfectant but on surfaces not the air. I usually use super long gloves so my skin does not touch the water
