Folk, some guy posted this on a U.K. Reef Facebook group:

What are your thoughts?
I just can't see a reputable supplier posting like this.
Also couldn't believe how many people were asking for shipping prices without seeing a license, holding facilities or shipping methods.

Here's what I posted back:
'Seriously guys, you want to get wild caught fish from a random guy online who is probably doing it illegally. You have no idea how he's collecting the fish, how he's looking after the fish. How he's shipping the fish.
No reputable supplier would advertise like this.

This is everything wrong on the hobby!

@Henry
Can you show your license, your holding facilities, quarantine and shipping procedures?'

Am I being out of order?

No you not being out of order! You have the right to ask and to know. And people should be more mindful about who they buying animal from as well

Although i dont entirely agree with the way this has been advertised. I could not see this being easy for him to transport back to the uk correctly. The fine would be large without the correct papers and licence.

Also i would have contacted him before just slamming a post down to get all the facts before accusing. Innocent until proven guilty.

I have ordered online, icluding eBay, here in the USA for more than 20 years and I have NEVER asked a supplier for this info. I do generally check their reviews to see if they have happy customers.

I would guess he's operating from within the Dominican Republic, and that getting the fish to the U.K. - or anywhere else - would be on the buyer.
