Hi gang.

Im currently acquiring gear for a standard 37gallon that I’m gonna be moving my current livestock into.

the tank will be 36” long X 12” deep X 22” tall.

right now I’m planning on using 2-3 AI Prime HD (not the new ones)

I was thinking of supplementing with T5 to help with shadowing, but because of the tank’s limited depth, the only option I can come up with is hanging 2 reef Brite slim line single bulb T5s on either side of the primes (I’m getting a stand built with a canopy so we don’t have to worry about how ugly this will be).

my question is this: will 2 little 2 foot T5s do anything noticeable? I’m mostly tired of excessive shadowing, which is what I’m trying to do remedy T5’s here.

Any input appreciated.

I would do 2 AI primes and then do 1 - 36-inch T5 bulb on either side. It would kind of look like below. I'm sure you could easily grow any coral under there, especially because your tank is narrower. BRS has a good video about testing T5 bulbs and they pretty much said that you can change them out every 2 years. So, yearly bulb cost for you would only be about $20!

Sorry, typo on my part. It’s a 30” tank, not 36” so 24” T5s are the limit.
