I wouldn't think so intentionally however they will continue to churn the sand and keep clean.

Assuming this is a new tank? Diatoms will run its course

Conches and nassiruous snails are also a very good part of the substrate cleanup crew. I have a love hate relationship with my sleeper goby

Thats what I thought, but it's been 4.5 months and there is no sign of it slowing!

What are your levels. Using rodi water?

Mine will turn over any sand, diatoms included. It will also move full size frags by dragging, and pick up and relocate hermits. Absolute machine!
