Will a new sump trigger a cycle?

Hi, so recently my 40B finished it's cycling process as indicated by the water parameters.

However, I had to delay the 20G sump installation to this coming week. It's a fresh tank that's never touched water and I plan on putting some new dry sand and chaeto in it as well.

Will this addition trigger another cycle?
 
No. I did a 30g to 90g sump and everything was fine. Think of it like a big water change. Even that won't make your tank recycle. Most of the beneficial bacteria are on your rock and sand.

That's how I was imagining too. Also a sump piping questions. Should my overflow piping diameter be greater than my return piping?
