Will a single AI 16HD cover a 29 gallon bowfront

I'm starting my first saltwater tank. I purchased a pre-owned setup that included a Current Marine Orbit with ramp up timer. Without knowing much I thought it was a good light, but I've learned it's not great for corals. I can pickup a used AI 16HD for $150 locally. Will a single get me started (and add a second later if needed)? My tank is 30" long, 15" wide (at the bow) and 20 deep. Sorry for the basic question.

That's actually a 40g tank, depending on your rockwork you might be able to get away with just one longer than you think, adding a second one down the line will set you up to grow just about anything.

Interesting, the guy I bought it from said 29 and I wondered if it was bigger. Is there anything I need to look for when buying one of those lights used? I'm waiting to hear back about how old it is and the power level it was run on. Any idea how long they are expected to last?

I'd look for one that hasn't been used too long, I've heard the first bulbs to go out or shift spectrum are the near uv channels, get pictures of every individual channel on by itself and all on together.

Just manage expectations. Will it allow for higher light requiring corals from end to end? No. Will it illuminate the tank visually? Yes depending on if you can tolerate a spotlight in the middle style light. It’ll manage corals directly under it. Off to the ends? Probably not
