Will a snipped off polyp usually live and grow?

I have a colony of Bloodsucker zoas that were starting to shade out something else, so I snipped off a polyp. 24 hrs. later it was sitting on the sand wide open like nothing ever happened so I glued it to a rock with an LPS to see what happens. Will it probably live and is that normal?

Normal but may not stick around if it breaks free of the glue.

Usually yes they will live and grow. Single polyps are sold all the time.

Zoas have a varying tolerance for glue. Bloodsuckers are a more robust strain so it'll likely be fine. That said, I have a shroom box with crushed coral. Whenever I'm trimming and I get loose polyps or an unfavorable cut I throw them into the box and leave them alone for a week or two. That gives them time to heal, attach to the substrate, and then I can mount them on a plug easy-peasy.
