Will a stepper bit drill acrylic.

personally, i’d Use a hole saw to get a true hole. The step bit might bevel the hole.
 
I agree with getting a hole saw. I used a stepper bit on some 3/8 acrylic once and it chewed it up pretty bad, but it did work. If you clamp a 2x4 to the side of the acrylic that the bit will exit it really reduces the chipping from any drill bit or hole saw when exiting the hole.
 
I use a regular hole saw, w/ a pilot bit.
Drill half way through on one side, finish other half from other side, this makes both sides clean.
 
Yes, it will work but is a bit messy - I have used it for holes that are too large for regular drill bit but too small for a hole saw. Are you trying to drill and odd sized hole that you don't have a hole saw for?
