Hi All -
I added a new clownish (1-1.5 inches) to a 75 gallon reef that has a yellow / blue tang, flame angel, clownfish, melenarus wrasse, and six line wrasse (they have been in the 75 for about a month). Immediately upon introduction of the new smaller clown I noticed that the six line wrasse began picking on it & within an hour I noticed tears on the new clowns fins (6 line has not bothered any of the other fish in my previous 1.5 years with him - he was actually usually bullied by the flame angel). At this point I removed the six line (catching him was a great time as you can imagine) and put him in the sump.
With that background in mind I'm interested in opinions:
How long should I keep the wrasse in the sump to potentially reduce aggression & give the new clown time to establish?
Once the new clown starts hosting an anemone (as the current one does), do you think this would serve as adequate protection for him in the case the 6 line still remains some what aggressive?
Appreciate your opinions!
And here's a picture of the tank, because who doesn't like pictures.
