Will bubble tip anemone eat my fire shrimp?

I have a large 3 inch fire shrimp and a brittle star. How likely is it that a bubble tip will eat them?

How big is the Bubble Tip Anemone? A large one could certainly eat him. Especially if the shrimp pesters him or steals food. That said, in my opinion Bubble Tips are less likely to than other anemone types.

Very unlikely. BTAs in general aren't that aggressive compared to other anemones

I have a cleaner shrimp that lives right next to my 5 bubble tips, 2 of them are very large. Never had an issue.

Thanks for the input. I am thinking about buying a bubble tip but wanted to find out first. I like my fire shrimp and corals but my clowns have been destroying my euphillias trying to host.

What species of clown? How big is your tank? I only note that a Bubble Tip is not a natural host for ocellaris or percula. No guarantee that either would accept the host quickly. But it has worked for some.

I have as of now 5 RBTA's ( splitting ) and a Condy the size of a softball with 2 shrimps in the tank a Cleaner and Fire. The Fire has his home on the same rock as the Condy and is always walking near and around it without any worries. I've even seen my Cleaner try and steal from it get caught in the tentacles and still be able to break free. Unless the shrimp is sick or dying I wouldn't worry about the shrimp and the bubble tip.
I have 2 T/P clowns and although the RBTA's are right below them they chose to host the overflow box instead.

I have never had an anenome but thought I might give it a try it it wont kill all my coral and attack my fish.. I was told the bubble tip would be a good choice.

I have a 36 bow with 40-50 lbs of live rock with a 15 gal sump and have 2 lyre tail anthias and a pair of 3 inch Ocellaris clowns.

A BTA is a good choice likely because they will not get as large as other clown hosting anemones. As far as attacking fish, they do not attack per se. what usually happens is a fish strays into it and gets stung. BTAs are known to move around and split often, so corals will always have some risk.

For what it is worth, I do have a BTA in my 45 gallon AIO mixed reef (30 gallon display). I had 2 ocellaris that passed away, but before that, they never even seemed to notice the anemone. As I mentioned before though, some have found success.

One last note, you have two 3” ocellaris. I would suggest they would need a large anemone to handle their size. I have seen recommendations of as large as 3” of anemone diameter per 1” of clownfish length.

I feel a little like I am discouraging you, but I just want you to be prepared. As I was in the same boat researching this a few months ago, it was kind of fresh in my head.

My green bta ate all three of my peppermint shrimp in one day lol and the bta was not starving I feed it

I have 2 large bubble tip anenonies and 2 large fireshrimp. I have not had any problems…ymmv..
