Will Chaeto stop growing when it gets crowded?

It seems that if I do not remove some chaeto after my fuge is packed with it that it stops growing. Anyone notice the same?

I've noticed that mine will compact itself and become more dense if it isn't trimmed back. I don't know that it stops growing. If the nutrients are there its going to consume it.

+1 as long as nutrients are there, it should grow. My AIO has it packed and take the shape of the basket literally.

Mine keeps growing, the key is bright lighting though if the light doesn't penetrate to the center of the mass then it may die off. The looser the growth the better light penetrates so better nutrient export, mine actually grows out of the top of the fuge if I let it go too long without removing some. I have to push it back into the water
