Will copper power mess up nitrate test results?

Not sure if this is the right place for this question.. Wondering if Copper Power will impact the results of a nitrate test kit. I currently have the tank at 2.0 ppm for QT, and use Salifert test kits for nitrates. Will it skew the results, or nah?

I don’t think copper will affect a nitrate test result.

Great question! I can tell you definitively that it will impact ammonia tests. Not sure on nitrate. @HotRocks do you know?

It should not have an impact on nitrate to the best of my knowledge.

I suspect however that the Hanna Nitrate checker (HI781) that has recently entered the market will indeed be affected by copper.

In the instructions it ways "Main sources of interference are nitrite and copper". Of course I've been using this tester on my QT tank the entire time. Bummer.
