So I have been feeding my fish the the general cure, focus, frozen food concoction for over a week now and wondering will this kill EXTERNAL flukes as well? I would assume so since the meds are in it’s system but really not sure. I have been feeding fish in QT for the possibility of internal parasites but saw my goby do a quick flash. I was going to do a freshwater dip but wondered about this first

From what I know, external and internal parasites should each be addressed individually. The food is for internal and dosing the tank is for external.

GC administered through food will be effective against internal worms and when GC or prazipro are administer through the water column it will address external problems.

To add to the discussion, GC contains praziquantel, but in a powder form. Its solubility in water is questionable. I'd suggest prazipro as mentioned in this thread for external treatment.

Prazipro can be harsh on fish, especially specific species (e.g. leopard wrasse, naso tang). Treat once. Do a water change after 24 hours and run carbon if the fish is sensitive. Then treat again 7 days later. Don't skip the second treatment. It could lead to additional treatments that could potentially kill your fish.

Thank for this detail. Especially about sensitive fish (Naso) to praziquantel. I just lost a blonde Naso that I qt’d and then misteriously died in my DT for no reason I can find. It was a complete and sudden death with no signs. I did have him In Qt and went though 2 weeks of prazi. Maybe that was reason

I'm sorry to hear that. Naso's are extremely sensitive to prazi. It really messes with thier digestive tract. I would say a complete tank transfer after 24 hours with a Naso if you have to treat with prazi. Then rebuild thier strength as much as you can before the second treatment. It's unnerving.
