hello,

has anyone had any fish get eaten by gig's?

i have a pair of gig's in a 34g cube. the only inhabitants are a pair of clowns and a flame angel. i introduced a small 2" panther grouper last weekend. i was going to put it in another tank once if got larger. 3 days later... the panther grouper is gone! it didn't jump, and the overflow has mesh.

so... my only thought process would be that one of the gig's ate it!?!? thoughts?

has anyone had any fish get eaten by gig's?

It could happen, but I've never actually seen my gigantea catch a live fish.

I've had fish disappear over the years, but no more so after getting a couple of giganteas a few years ago. :)

Yes, they can along with Magnifica and Haddoni. However, Haddoni's are the worst.

If find that if I feed my gigs and mags they don't contract so quickly when something touches them. I have not had any of mine eat a fish.

Now my Haddoni on the other hand, a couple times. I had one eat the biggest scooter blenny I've ever seen and owned.

Ticked me off.

gotcha... i knew haddoni were infamous for eating fish. it just surprised me when my gig did.

randy, i have also had fish dissapear in my reef tank. there is a bunch of rock, large clean up crew, trachies, and ect... i had a helfrichi and a nice dartfish dissapear in one week, and nothing since. in there though. this cube has minimal rock and clean up crew. really no place it could have gone.

lesson learned...
