I am asking because i found the most beautiful anemone i have seen to date and it is a haitian anemone. Its got bright purpleish pink tentacles half way down each tentacles and not just the tips and the tips of the tentacles are all blunt shaped and not tapered thin. It almost looks like a mini ritteri anemone. Best part is it was 30 bucks. I really like it and it was an impulse buy. Will i be making a mistake putting this in my reef? so far it is in a 16g holding tank and i am having second thoughts putting it in my 113g display tank. Do these thing move alot? are they fish eaters? experiences anyone?

They are not big movers; however, they tend to lose color over time and turn a dull grey-blue. I bought one last year and it ate 3 anthias, stung a rabbitfish to death and has killed several hundred dollars' worth of CUC. However, it is a very pretty animal that hosts my skunk clowns. They also have a very potent sting that kills corals very quickly. Keep in mind also, if you are allergic to bees then you may have a reaction to the stings (ranging from mild itching to heavy swelling).

You'll have to keep an eye on him for sure, if you have any weak swimmers like blennies and gobies then you should maybe rethink adding it to the tank.

3 anthias? oh no tell me they were not lyretail size? because i plan on getting lyretail anthias. Thats crazy that it is hosting skunks, i have two domino clowns and it would be cool if they hosted it but dang i don't know now i am really debating on taking it back.

It will certainly try to eat all your fish and with enough time the answer is almost certainly yes they will be eaten. Are the clowns tank raised? ? Have they had a host before? If they are not used to hosting they might end up eaten too.

They are movers and tend to be more on the aggressive side when it comes to killing corals while moving. Some people have had experiences where it has eaten smaller fish as they don’t host clownfish. IMO best to avoid adding them in a reef tank, they do better in a dedicated tank

sucks as it is a beautiful anemone. I am not going to take chance and just return if to my lfs for some credits.
