If I take out my live rock and change out the old live sand for new one?

I'm going through red slime and I would like to clean it thoroughly will anything happen?

I did this myself and no issues. I did hold my fish in another tank untill it cleared. If you are using cured live rock you will be fine. If it is not cured thats a different story.
