Have had this clown since my first saltwater tank and was the reason I started in the hobby. He was in a little 2.5 gallon then went to a 5 gallon and now is living lavish in a 55 gallon. Got him/her BTA to host, and no luck. So far have tried taking them out for two weeks and bringing them back and intruducing them thru a tube into the BTA. Didnt leave the tube. So I got this idea from my LFS to put a BTA in a basket with the clown. Just so happens that one of my splits decided to go on a stroll thru my reef, and made it to easy to pull him out and cage him with the clown. Time will tell if this works and if I will get a dream come true of the relationship of a clown and his/her home. If you have any advice or ideas on anything I'm doing let me know, super new, and any advice I love to hear to help me get better and more educated!

Use a sponge or other object to crowd the fish so it is right next to the nem. Then it will figure it out.

@KrisReef i don’t have any sponges laying around do you think I could use filter floss and fill one side of the basket? Or would that be bad for the anemone or the fish?
I think anything that is inert and reduce space would work. You might just move the fish into the nem with your hand?

I have same problem before. My clown fish didn’t host an anemone for a long time. I tried every method on internet and doesn’t work for me. As my experience. Just go looking for a clown fish which is already host an anemone. Buy them together and put in your tank. They will learn how to do it. But that clown fish might dead because my tank is small. They fight a lot. Anyway my clown fish is host an anemone right now.
