So eventually I want to have coral and I don't think Ai primes will work for me as I can not afford rimless tanks or the price of Ai primes. So my question is will LED lighting work for growing out coral or no?

AI primes are LEDs, and yes proper LEDs will grow coral just as well as anything else. I'm sure many others will chime in with their favorite fixtures, I have always just DIY'd it.

What type of LEDs should I be looking for? Like what kelvin and specifications should it have?

I've got 2 xr15 pros over mine. You can tune the spectrum and intensity easily on most leds.less. corals have been doing great and tons of growth. You can see in the photo I just had to trim my birdsnest away from the glass.

Depends on the tank and how bright you want it. The viparspectra 165W boxes on amazon are pretty popular, but mayu be unnecessary on a smaller tank. On a 30 or less that light should generally grow any coral you want. Kelvin is not really important/useful with LEDs because the color is created by mixing different channels rather than a single bulb.

Nicrew, noopsyche and pop bloom also offer budget LED,s … when dealing with lower priced equipment for saltwater tanks, durability with salt and water is a big deal…
I have Kessils and AI Primes now but just got some Nicrews…they seem ok so far
