Will mushrooms grown on smooth expoxy surface?

So I just got done filing in some bigger holes in my live rock with epoxy putty so my mushrooms will be positioned better as they expand (instead of in a crevice) but now I'm thinking I may have shot myself in the foot here. Per usual I got a bit carried away and now there's a nice smooth epoxy runway around my 4 new frags. Do mushrooms need a rough surface to attached their foot or will they be able to attached to a pretty smooth epoxy surface as they expand?
