Will my corals die?!?! Huge alk swing

My alk went from 8.5 to 11... i accidentally overdosed... will there be any mortality? I only have soft corals 2 mushroom and 1 scoly

From my experience, the softies in my tank were not affected from a huge alk swing. Just try to slowly bring it down over the next few days/week

If you just wait - it will come down on its own - just dont dose in the meantime.... Probably less stressful since they are already at 11.

People actually used to shoot for 11.

Major swings hurt but not necessarily high alk.

Just let that come down on it's own.

I just had a similar episode - have acorapora, some soft corals and multiple fish - my alk normally ran 7.5-8 - I mixed up a new soda ash batch (with the correct recipe) - but I dont think it was mixed adequately -meaning that the lower part of the jug probably had a higher concentration of carbonate. Thus - more dosage - the alk rose to about 14. I stopped dosing and over 2 weeks it dropped. I did notice that the corals were looking stressed (which is why I tested) - Its hard to say - mine have nearly all fully recovered after 2 weeks.

as you will realize the have already survived the up shock. now your giving them second down shock

I shot my all from 7.4 to 10.5 only my acro frags died. No other coral including lps and monti didnt get affected

I hit a mushroom with a hammer trying to chisel it off a frag plug. It's still alive and will probly outlive me.

Are all mushroom species bulletproof? Or are there some that are more sensitive?

Ricordea Yuma tend to be a bit more picky or difficult to provide for, I have found.
