So I'm in the process of getting everything perfect with my first saltwater fish tank. It's a 46g bow front and I'm pretty sure I have everything I need to have a great looking tank. I have all of my equipment up and running and for the most part I'm in the hardest part of the whole process which is waiting for the cycle to be complete. I have acquired many many hitchhikers from my love rock including a massively blooming population of Copepods, asterisms starfish, and stomatella snails. My favorite hitchhiker, though, is this beautiful little feather duster. I first noticed it after I got my last batch of live rock to complete the tank. That was probably 2-3 weeks ago. Since then it has more than doubled in size. The size increase tells me that something is going right but when I first noticed it, it was a very deep bright blue almost a purple color. Since it has grown it has gotten a little more pale so it's more of a baby blue color now.
. The first pic is when I first found out what it was. Before that I was just calling it "some sort of tube worm" lol. And here is what it looks like this afternoon
. My question is will this thing continue to survive and grow even though I don't have any fish in there and I haven't been giving it any sort of food source other than whatever occasional copepod may drift it's way?
