Hi all,

Just yesterday, I decided to buy some torch corals to add to my collection, as they are my favorite corals and my current Dragon Soul and Cotton Candy torches are doing quite well. However, the LFS I went to was having some clear issues with their coral system, and a lot of their high end torches looked rather distressed.

I’ve had success with reviving an elegance coral that almost died in someone else’s tank crash, so I figured I’d try and save some of the torches this time (I managed to get them at a discount of course)

Sitting here now, I have gotten a good look at their skeletons as they close up for the night, and I am quite worried for them. There is tissue recession up to the corallite cup on all of them. Therefore, has anyone has had experience with torches looking this bad and recovering? I need some hope that my purchase was justified lol. Pictures are attached, in order:

“Holy Grail” type thing
“24k Indo Gold
Orange Tip

Also, keep in mind these were taken after lights off, and they look slightly better midday.

Thanks in advance!

The move and acclimating to a new system will stress them a little more than they were already stressed, but give them a few days in a stable system and they may be fine. Good luck

Update: the holy grail died this morning. I wasn't surprised more than I was pretty annoyed, considering how much I spent on it, but I am working out a solution via my LFS owner, who I am on great terms with. The others seem to be doing about the same as they were when I bought them, which I guess isn't necessarily a bad thing but only time will tell.

Bummer.
