Hello

I have a general question. I received about 35 different frags from a live auction today, and the description stated they were for 1-2 polyps each. Most of them were Paly's which I thought were bigger than zoa's generally.

However, when I got them, most of them are TINY. I mean small to the point where when it was in the container, It looked like a flea. Even when it has opened up in my tank, I have to strain to see the color of the polyp.

QUESTION:

Will they get physically larger? Maybe they are baby polyps. I know it is hard to say, but almost all of my corals were smaller than even my smaller existing zoa's and most of them were supposed to be paly's.

I am sure they are great corals, but they are small.

Who did you get them from? If your tank is healthy yes everything should grow. You should be able to see the color of any zoa or paly even the very tiny kind called micro zoos.

I would assume you mean ebay under coralfarmer? All you can do is hope for the best for what I have heard is everything he does is all fresh cut and loose 90% of what you get from him.
Goodluck!!!

Everyone sure does rag on that guy. Maybe you folks should give him some good old fashioned advice and help him fix whatever it is.

I hope my post did not come across as ragging on anyone... As I said, I am sure the corals are great. I am simply trying to figure out spacing and placement once they get acclimated.

Adam you never ragged on anyone it's my fault for asking who you got them from.

How are these palys doing? I just received a similar order of 47 frags, very similar situation, lots of baby polyps, and obvious fresh cuts. I'm a pretty regular customer (when everybody forgets to bid I love snatching things cheap!) so I complained about it to Bryan. My biggest irritation was I waited weeks for my order to ship and had hopes that meant Sonny cut my frags way earlier and allowed some time for them to heal, obviously not the case tho when I unpacked everything. I'm really not trying to rag either, as I said I'm a pretty regular customer of theirs, with basically weekly orders of $100+, so obviously it can't be all bad or I'm just retarded lol, but this one was kinda like a kick in the nuts, especially when I was so excited for the things I was getting, to really have none of them when they finally arrived. I had refrained from writing this before, as I expect them to take care of me and make me happy and don't wanna bad mouth anybody, but day by day as more of those baby polyps disappear it gets harder and harder haha. I think I'm about at my last order depending on how the next one arrives, and I wont bash just simply vote with my wallet. And just for the record, Bryan, the guy that handles the ebay side of Sonny's biz, has EXCELLENT customer service, he is outstanding and a pleasure to deal with, I have absolutely nothing but positive things to say about him, sometimes I feel bad, because I imagine he catches a lot of customer flack on Sonny's behalf. I may delete all this later cuz I hate when things turn into bash threads, but just needed to vent this out real quick and was curious if you were experiencing the same thing with the houdini baby polyps.

I have not contacted them because I am new and this was my first order, but if you get a resolution to your issue, can you please let me know as it sounds like I have had almost the exact same issue. I originally had an order of 20 frags ordered on the 7th of july, but it did not ship out till about 1 1/2 weeks later, so like you (most likely) I was snatching up a polyps here and there if no one was bidding. 3 auctions later, I had my 51 frags and a little over 2 weeks later, I had them shipped. I have only had them in my tanks for a few days, but it seems like about 10 of them are now dead or dying, but it is hard to tell as the last order from a sale (not this vendor) took about 3 days to open up. Also, 6 of the frags were detached from the frag and free floating.

Again, I do not mean to bash, I am simply asking. I have not said anything to the vendor, as I thought this was a normal thing. Also being new to the hobby, when the frags have not opened, I was figuring it was my tank although I have quite a few WYSISYG frags I have purchased that are doing great. But I am into this order for about $400 so it was a bit disappointing.

I would be interested in seeing how they handled it for you so I can decide if I should try to resolve my issues.

I would contact Bryan through eBay and simply let him know about your experience, he definitely does not want negative reviews so I imagine even though it's your first order he would want to fix it. I told him only a couple days after I received the package as things started to disappear and I knew it was gonna get worse, and got irritated. He calmed me down, and said he would have some new frags cut and set aside for me to heal before sending back out. I began purchasing frags for that order June 8, I received them last week, so what I had hoped was as I purchased the earliest frags would've been healed for over a month and then getting fresher from there, but still all should have been healed for over 2 weeks as I waited for Bryan to handle some family business before shipping out to me. My biggest disappointment was the waiting all the extra time and then still getting fresh cut baby polyps, that was what forced my hand to contact him. Like I said I've ordered hundreds of frags from them, and I'd say on a normal basis it's about 50/50 survival because of the fresh cuts and babies. Now loss is going to be experienced even from the best vendors, it just happens, corals don't like being fragged, shipped, or re-homed, so I'm perfectly fine with losing some stuff, but I'd like it to have a fair chance at survival and the fresh cut babies have almost no chance. It also doesn't really bother me much when most of those frags are like $5-$10, I can deal with more loss, but when they start turning into $20-$40 frags that are basically DOA, that's a different story.
