Will new sps frags survive in new build?

I’m in the process of a 75 gallon build that should be wet in a week or two. I will be starting the tank with a large marine pure block that’s been in my 220 for over two years. I’m getting a bunch of new sps frag cutoffs from a friend this weekend which will be dipped in bayre, attached to plugs and placed in a 20 gallon quarantine. Once the 75 is up and running, I would like to transfer the frags there for the duration of the 45 day quarantine. The tank will remain fishless for this period. I will add a cuc which should help keep the bio load going. I plan on using all T5 lighting and Tunze nano streams for flow. I will keep parameters in check with water changes. Does this sound like it will work?

After my Reefer XL 425 (88 gal display + 24 gal sump) finished cycling, I began placing both SPS and LPS frags. Most of them did really well and are now almost 2 years old with lots of growth. I did have a brown jelly outbreak around 8 month in and lost about 20% of the corals, but the rest have been doing really well.

I know your not really suppose to add sps until the tank is established with with good coralline growth and successful lps/softies. But not sure when my friend will be thinning out his reef again. With the seasoned marine pure block, I should not have to wait out a cycle. I could use sand from my 220 as well but I haven’t decided if I’m gonna go bare bottom or sand yet. I do have some live rock in my 220 sump I could bring over too beef up the bio filtration if necessary.

If it is dead rock start, your parameters will likely jump around a lot, especially nutrients. It is definitely possible, but expect higher than normal losses.

The seasoned marine pure block will certainly help jumpstart though!

The rock I’m referring to is not dead rock. It’s live rock that’s been in one system or another for over the last fifteen years. They’re just smaller pieces so I keep them in the sump for added bio filtration. I was even thinking of doing a massive water change on the 220 and using that to fill the new 75. I would filter it through a 10 micron sock. I just had an icp test done on the 220 and parameters are great. Slightly low on strontium manganese and vanadium. Everything else in range.
