Will pest palythora cause problem euphylia coral?

Hello,

my Palythora corals are getting out of hand and keep spreading towards my euphylia and seem to be almost touching their skeletons. I thought euphylia were aggressive enough to keep them in check and im worried they may lose the battle if it gets out of hand.

Anyone have experience with this?

They don’t pack a sting and are generally evasive
Euphyllia have a good sting but may have little impact on palys
You could run a bead of gel glue at the end where palys are and they should not be able to spread past that

really just a bead of gel glue and the paly wont past it?

I was thinking of injecting them with lemon juice but I have a small nano tank and I really dont want to mess with parameter swings.

No a bead of glue is going to do nothing to stop palys from spreading. If you glue the actual palys on the leading edge it will kill them and slow them down. Lemon juice is another temporary solution(unless u kill them all)...you can spread it out and just do a couple at a time. Another option is tweezers and rip the palys out.

@924er I have had decent success with using Frank's F Aptasia on zoa and paly control. For larger paly's known to contain toxins only do one at a time and be sure to run carbon. Just put a little dab on the coral face and then on the base after it closes up. It may take a couple treatments but eventually the polyps will die off/melt but the rest of the colony will be fine.

I have palys that are in near constant contact with my starburst BTA's and are completely unphased. Just sit there fully open taunting the nem in a "Bring it buddy" type posture.

I have done this and it works well. IME I would recommend using a razor blade to cut in between the area you want to remove and the one you want to keep so you don't start to pull off the whole mat. Do not push toward the Euphyllia with the straw because you may slip and hit it.

This is genius!! I have a bunch of of encrusting corals softies I want to remove and this would be a perfect way to do just that.

I was considering getting a burning laser for the job, but I like this better.

These are what I have. They are good ones. No rust on the two I use, but I rinse them off.
