Was wondering if there is any harm to run a poly filter in the sump all the time or just every now and then just to make sure there are no harmful metals in the water. I have never done a test to see if there are copper or lead and etc.. in the tank but have been going through some issues for a few months nad a few times was suggested maybe toxins in the water. While I do not think there is since I only use RO/DI and I always change filters on time to ensure 0 TDS, who knows..... So would it hurt anything to run a poly filter as a just in case every now and then??? Also I think they color change so if there was I would think it would change color to alert you of something.

No it's fine. Folks run agressive gfo quite often.
