Ive always wondered about this and have never been able to find a definitive answer. Does any one have some insight?

From what I heard they are reef safe to dose in our DT. However that is a good question regarding pods. I would like to know too.

Yep its reef safe I have done it in my DT in the past without any ill effects. I just wonder about using it in a QT. I currently have a blue star leopard in mine and thankfully shes eating anything I throw in there . However, I see her hunt around the rocks but do not see much pecking after pods. I culture my own and throw some in every day but wondering if theyre unable to survive with the prazi treatment shes currently going through....

In theory it should put a serious dent in your pod population, but based upon anecdotal evidence it almost never does. Kinda like bristle worms, tube worms/feather dusters. Prazi almost never kills them even though technically it can.

I've used it in reef tanks quite often. One of them is a wrasse tank with a mandarin. Last two times I used it on this tank I watched the sump where the pods dwell and saw absolutely no pod loss whatsoever. Surprised I was.

Has never harmed any feather dusters and my bristle worm populations were not quantifiably affected

Like already stated, I too have dosed prazi in my reef and had no noticeable losses of my pod population.

Then to play devils advocate here, if prazi isn't killing pods, bristle worms, feather dusters then how do we know it's actually de-worming the fish?

Well you can see it work on flukes. Internal parasites show fat bellies?

Ah ok, I unfortunately or fortunately, have never seen that but I guess I should feel lucky. I always use it prophylactically...

I haven't either or at least other than my fish fat as cows lol

Prazi does not kill flukes immediately. It works by causing flukes to spasm and dislodge from the fish. Studies have shown that after 10 hours the fluke dies. However, there are prazi resistant strains. For these you have to administer a formalin bath (nasty stuff).

Prazi works better on gills flukes than it does internal parasites/intestinal worms IME. For these, it's best to use metronidazole. Which can be combined with praziquantel. But since internal worms usually have obvious symptoms (white stringy poop), most people elect to just observe for that.

Humble, I about to start my 2 round of prazi and am currently using metro and focus mixed with food. Ive never mixed meds before and noticed you said it can be used with prazi, are there any interactions bw these 2 meds that could create a potential problem?

Not that I've heard it or seen humble mention. He's suggested the combo several times in the past so I suspect no :)

You can mix Prazipro with copper, but I'd be leery mixing it with anything else. The interaction issue is with the solubilizing agent (Oxybispropanol) found in Prazipro. When that mixes with certain other meds, it can lead to a bacterial bloom (i.e. cloudy water) which uses up all the available O2 in the water; suffocating your livestock to death. Now IF you mixed metro & focus together properly that should prevent either from leaching back out into the water. If that is the case, then there is nothing present in the water for Oxybispropanol to interact negatively with so you should be OK.
