My nano was set up on March 18 with a combination of mainly dry rock and sand seeded with some live sand and live rock from my established quarantine/observation tank. I was running the basic tests today (ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate) since the nitrite was down to 0.2 five days ago, and I was hoping the cycle was over.
I am using Red Sea test kits that I purchased when I started cycling this tank. The nitrite test has to sit for 9 minutes for results. After 9 minutes, it was at 0. I then ran my ammonia test, which takes 15 minutes. I didn't empty the nitrite tube in that time, and after the additional 15 minutes, it was registering nitrites of 0.05.
So my question is, which results should I trust? The ones at 9 minutes or the ones after 24 minutes? Normally, I would just leave it for another few days to be sure, but my old quarantine tank is currently leaking, so I would like to move the snails out of it and into my display tank.
