Will ricordea survive without a mouth attached?

I recently moved a ricordea plug to give some room to the shrooms splitting (they seemed cramped). When I pulled the plug away the second and third shrooms stayed on the rock while tearing and leaving a little piece on the plug. Will the little piece on the plug survive without the center mouth? I guess its called a mouth? Some tank pics for reference.

If there is no mouth the ric will not survive. They are hardy corals and the piece that kept the mouth should be fine.

Chances are not good for the torn off part to regenerate fully without a mouth.

I'm surprised at how close your rics are to the stunner, and still intact. That chalice has some NASTY sweepers that I've seen melt mushrooms pretty easily.

I thought that too, but if you look close the ricordea is beating out the stunner causing it to not grow past where the shroom hits it. I'm not sure the tentacles can swoop up and under to get to the shroom. If the stunner starts messing around, I'll just have to reach in and snap a frag off.

The mushroom may give the chalice pause for laying out new flesh and skeleton in that direction, until the chalice is done playing that game and unleases a few dozed 4-6" sweeper. They are seriously awesome up see and watch, but can be devastating to soft corals.

With the direction of flow, Your orange Ric with a green mouth would be an easy target.
