Will scar marks heal?

I've tried searching this but haven't found anything about it. I just got a desjardini tang and the right side of it's body has what looks to me like scar marks all over it. Do scars heal over time or is this something that's going to be there forever?

It made fade but generally you will always be able to tell that something happened to it there.

It is like us. Superficial cuts and nicks heal all the time without a mark. More serious wounds leave scars. When I scuba dive, I see reef fish with scars quite often.
