Good afternoon! I’m setting up my new 150g 5’x2’x2’ tank. After getting the stand inside, I’m realizing that the floor in the 100yr old house I’m renting isn’t completely level. Side to side the tank is level, but front to back on both sides the tank is about 1/4” unlevel (both right and left sides are the same).

I have some shims to correct this problem, but my question is: will the shims cause any damage to the wood floor beneath? I don’t want them to punch holes into the wood if possible since I’m renting- my landlord is A-OK with the tank and where it is but want to be cautious!

Thanks for your advice!

Should not be an issue. Use multiple shims to increase surface area if you are concerned.
More surface area equals less weight sitting on a certain point. Also, if its wood, put some thought into whether water will ever reach that spot over the time you have the tank there. Wet wood is way softer.
