Will the anemone eat the coral?

Just purchased this piece and if came with the anemone. I just read some coral can become anemone food... should I remove the anemone??

Couple things to address here.
Is it an anemone?
I wouldn't say that coral can become food, but rather they can sting and kill surrounding coral in some cases.
Get us a better pic please.

If you can adjust your lights, kill all the blue and max out the white.

Yes I'm 89% sure it is a rock anemone

The answer is yes. Anemones can eat corals. For example. If a mushroom coral decides it wants to detach itself and float the current into the Anemone, it will get swallowed in a very short moment. Then, the anenome will ball up into a happy little ball and poop it out in a day or two. I just watched it happen.

It’s not likely. Even the mushroom example (which could happen), is not common. It would only eat something soft that landed on it. It’s not going to move around searching for coral to eat.

Lol. Yes definitely an old post. Glad I could bring back some memories. Probably is rare though. I haven't seen mine crawl up to any corals and eat them yet. Just the coral that floated into its tentacles. Still, I do get nervous when it gets close to my toadstool. Especially after my little short lived catastrophe. Seems like the anenome almost doubled in size after it ate the $40 little mushroom treat. Oh well.
