Will these clownfish be ok?

About 2 or e months ago i bought a pair of WA Clarkii Clownfish and one of them died on the way home for the store. I have been looking for ages to find a new clownfish to keep her company. I finally found a clownfish that i thought looked similar. It turns out he looks fairly different. What do you guys think? Will they become a pair?

You know it’s hard to say. Obviously they may be A little different in coloration but if they are both clarkiis I️t could work. The new one you got is smaller so I️t may still be male. That’s the big thing. The new clown must be a smaller male. As long as no constant aggression appears they should be good with each other. Not sure on the mating part though:/. Luckily though you have a chance!

Big, first clown you have is an Amphiprion clarkii. Second, smaller clown appears to be an Amphiprion akindynos. They may tolerate each other, but they will not be a species pair.

I am no expert of course, but it shows two things. The lines show how clown species evolved. Basically indicating how similar different species are. The circles show which anemones are their natural hosts.

My identifications of your clowns are my best estimate given the pictures.

So with Clarkii clowns you have what you call the entire "Clarkii Complex". I forget exactly how many different Clarkii style clown there are, but it's a good number. Either way the relevant part that I'm getting to is you do not have a natural pair. What you might have is a pair where the female is more willing to accept the male then had you moved entirely outside the Clarkii complex.
