Will this bleached Millepora recover...?

Hey guys.

Today I ordered an "Pink Acropora Colony" from my fav store. The coral came up looking almost completely white. The shape is PERFECT. I'd like to know if you think it's a goner or there's a possibility... Here some pics

I can see some polyps, but no extension yet. 7 hours on the tank so far.

Super dead. The parts with some color might be salvageable. Let it sit in your tank for a few weeks, I’ve had some frags that completely bleached then managed to come back, miracles do happen.

That's a possibility. I was trying to save the whole thing because... Dang, it's beautiful...

Hopefully it comes back. That’s a nice size colony!

+1 on frag the healthy parts. You can try to keep the rest of the colony to see if the healthy parts will improve. But the parts that are completely white are goners. And most likely the parts that still have polyps but no color.

Then, do you suggest to cut the parts that have color? It was purchased online. Already mailed the seller, waiting for a reply.

you could try (no point really), but IME once it's RTNed like that, even the "healthy" (doesn't look like ANYTHING is alive on that colony) looking parts don't make it. I've had limited success fragging healthy parts off, doesn't mean it can't be done.

Looks gone to me too but I have seen amazing things happen if you just leave them be for a long time once they get like that. A small area might live and heal up over time but I am talking about a year for it to show an actual healthy part and it may only be one spot the size of a dime. A friend always leaves the colonies that have died in his tank to see if they come back. I actually have a colony from a Bali mariculture that was grown from one of his leave it be experiments.

Got another one from the seller, asked for a bigger bag. 10 pounds of water.

This one even came with an Acro Crab.

Got another one from the seller, asked for a bigger bag. 10 pounds of water.

His new piece? It’s bleached, sure, but it could make it if he provides the proper conditions and stability. Personally, I wouldn’t knowingly buy bleached pieces, but I’ve had some wild and MC ones make it fine even if a little bleached.

Yea, it's bleached. Pretty sure it'll make it.

It's a wild piece from a guy who gets them from Australia. Wasn't a WYSIWYG item. Just asked for a pink one. Didn't expected it to arrive bleached, but it's better bleached than dead.

I have an interesting story to share. I found a piece of coral that washed up and was almost completely dead, There was one tiny spot of pinkish. left. I put it in some saltwater and after one week, I have about 15-20 pinkish spots. Its not slimy and doesn't feel like coralline (my first thought). Crazy huh.
