Will this carbon work?

I happen to have a large jar of activated carbon leftover from when I was making a terrarium.

Would this be ok to run, perhaps in a filter sock, from time to time in my tank?

Or does the carbon for tanks have a larger/different grain?

Absolutely. This will work just fine. Be sure to rinse and you'll be a-ok
