Hello everyone,

The correct answer is ask a structural engineer, but I wanted to get your thoughts on this ahead of time.

It seems like this question is asked alot, but i have a slightly different floor configuration than most it seems, and this setup looks like about 3,000 lbs

I'm upgrading my 150 (72"x18x29) to a 240 (60x36x24)

My 1926 house was completely remodeled 6 years ago.

The aquarium will sit in an area with an 8 foot span, with 4x6 beams supporting 4x6 floor joists (2-2x6 sistered together) 16" on center, with 3/4 OSB and then 1/2" hardwood on top of that.

The attached photo is bad quality (sorry i took them from a video) to give some perspective.

New tank: (will go almost flush to the back wall:

Thanks for any input!

My quick thought is I have no idea. The floor seems to be attached to the side of the beams instead of them being under it. What are the beams sitting on. 2 pieces of 4x4 and 4 steel posts and problem is moot unless you have to make footers for them.

The 4x6 beams are sitting on 16x16x16 cement pads with rebar in the ground. then 4x6 joists are on top of that, then the 3/4 osb, then the hardwood. does this picture help?

If the other end of the 8 foot span is similarly supported I wouldn't worry at all.

How long are the 4x6 beams that are sitting on the pads? how far apart between the pads?
You can figure out the weight carrying capacity of that 4x6 beam, based on its unsupported length, and go from there.

Adding a few extra supports shouldn't be that big of a deal if necessary.

Couple steel plates sitting on the ground with cheap bottle jacks and call it a day!
