Hello,
I’ve had a Rhodactis coral for about a year and a half, and it began to become overrun by Xenia. I removed it from the area by chipping away the portion of rock that it was on, but slipped and accidentally got the coral, chopping off some of the foot and also a bit of the disc as well. It oozed some brown slime, as I’ve experienced before with zoas and Xenia, and shriveled up. Do you think it will make it?

Probably. Some people have even fragged mushrooms by putting them in a blender and pouring the goop into a tank, so a little bit of damage will be fine. The piece of foot that was chopped off could probably have grown into a new one too.

Really on the blender? Folklore?
then how come they don’t coat .50$?

Has the rhodactis split in the year and a half?
Some are hardier than others.
I have some I can't kill, others that seem to struggle in the same environment.

It has never split, although that is likely due to the fact that it was always being encroached by Xenia.

It is possible, but it doesn't always work to my understanding. Besides, no one's going to risk blending their super expensive "bounce" or "jawbreaker" shrooms, and the cheap ones grow fast enough. From the few accounts I've seen, it only results in about a dozen pinhead sized survivors that will take six months to grow to market size, so it would be better to just pizza cut one into a few frags every two months. The point is that mushrooms can survive and even grow from extreme damage, and so accidentally damaging one's foot slightly will probably not kill it.

Makes much more sense - thanks
