I have an 80g and bristletooth tang did not fair well in there. Needs at least a 4' tank. Other fish seem ok although they say keeping more the one angelfish together may cause problems in smaller tanks.

Oh, is there any alternatives for the bristletooth?

Not sure, tangs like those occupy 150' of reef space in the ocean so no matter which you consider, they may not do well in smaller tanks. However, some people manage to be successful. I'm just sharing my personal experience. I ended focusing more on smaller colorful fish. Yellow coris wrasse. Fairy wrasse, 6 line, indigo dottyback, flame angel, firefish, etc...

Ok!
So my stocking will work without the tang?

Well, perhaps they recommend not keeping 2 angelfish together in smaller tank but they are different species. Of course you know they may not be totally reef safe for corals either. The mandarin should only be added to a mature tank with robust supply of copepods. Tanks generally a year or more old. I would only add one blenny also

it would be helpful to know which order i should put them in :)

Well Damsels last for sure and the mandarin maybe after the tank is a year old and has a sustainable amount of pods for it to eat.

Have you researched the aggression factor of damsels? If you start with 3, eventually you will end up with 1 in that size tank. They are pretty fish and I have considered adding one to my tank but they are also on the top list of the most hated fish people added to their tanks due to aggression. Just giving you the info I have read online and talked to my LFS about. Your experience may be different. A lot has to do with rockwork and having enough space for different territires in the tank to prevent aggression.

I like tangs for their algae management skills, but that one gets pretty big. Maybe a spotted Kole or a Tomini would stay small enough.

I will admit that I do keep some tangs that get big and I just trade them back to my LFS for juveniles every 3 years or so. If that is an option for you.

If you're going for orchid dottybacks, go for at least a pair of them. I love my two pairs, but many people here continue to report aggression with their sole specimens.

I'd also be wary of the cherub pair...unless theyr'e already mated. I found them to be pretty aggressive for such a small fish; other dwarf angels are more sedate (but can still be bossy). I also like the colour of the keyhole angel more than the nox, if you're still looking at black angels.

i like nox angels, them being fully black, is different

So your recomendations are, bump up the dottyback to 2, remove 1 cherub? Also is there any say bigger angel i could keep instead of a cherub that wont nip alot at coral?
