Yeah toss that canister filter. I think that the skimmer should be big enough, is you tank drilled? That canister filter was not likely to have been doing much unless you had the proper saltwater media in it.
Will this sump work have an Emergency need to fix.

Look - I have a canister filter that's BROKEN- I'm wondering if the Eshopps R-100 is large enough for my 75 gallon tank. Cause that's all that's in stock that doesn't take a week to get...Replacing my BROKEN canister with a SUMP. Figured that some caps would help solve the apparent miscommunication.

I see you have a situation but you have not mentioned if you have a overflow or return pump or return line whether you get a sump or a fuge you will have to have all that if the broken line was the canister I doubt it was doing much anyway. I find that rush choices lots of times make bad decisions the hob skimmer should run it until you come up with a real fix.

I'm getting setup with everything from LFS and I'm drilling my tank for return and overflow have a Jebao DCT-4000 variable pump that's 1000gph already and you got me looking at the emerald trigger 26 they can 2 day ship for $23 extra.
