I want one sump for a return and one for the drain. Will the water stay lvl in both sumps with the pvc connecting the two on the bottom. They will only be about a foot apart.

Is there a specific reason you want the two tanks separated?

You will need a baffle on the return pump side. That is were the water drop will be visible when water evaporates.

Def will. Got one hole drilled guess tomorrow I'll drill the hole in the sump and connect them

Make sure the connecting pipe and bulkheads will take the flow rate of your return pump and overflow box or you will have a restriction. If the overflow is 1" I would use 1.25 or 1.5" as a connector to eliminate any possible floods.

I.used 1 inch bulk heads the pump is a mag 9.5 used external with about 3 feet of head. The over flow hole is like 2 inches. Just connected them. Kinda nerve racking drilling a sump half full of water.
