Ok, so I'm finally setting up my GeoReef Ca Rx and the system is plumbed except for the final step --- dumping the output effluent back into the sump. GeoReef says to loacte it near the PS pump input so that any excess CO2 will be burned off easily. So, I thought, why not just plug in the 1/4" output tube directly into the airline intake for the pump to ensure it goes directly into the PS?

For anyone running a CaRx ... where do you locate this return?

See atch pic for my idea ... thx

I would prefer to just drip the reactor effluent into the skimmer compartment of your sump. Part of adjusting the the calcium reactor will be counting the drip rate of your output and if that pulls any type of vacuum on the reactor it will make adjustment almost impossible.

1. you need to see effluent flow dripping to determine if it is blocked or decreasing.

2. that port is designed to pull air in to the skimmer so you could lower the performance of the skimmer.

i own a geo rx and just drip it in the same chamber of the ps and have no ph issues.

1 more thing if you block off that air intake to your skimmer, your skimmer will no longer operate. The skimmer needs a air intake to create the bubbles needed for skimming.

Thx all, wasn't sure if the drip would block the flow of air since its pulling air in but being able to count the drip rate is obviously a big deal. The section of my sump where my skimmer is is huge since I have a reef oct ext 300 so I'll just figure out a way to locate the drip near the pump's input
